The Colón Fútbol Club , or Colón FC for short , is a football club from Montevideo in Uruguay . The club's men's soccer team will play in the top Uruguayan amateur division, the Segunda División B Amateur , in the 2014/15 season . The women's soccer team was Uruguayan Champion of the Year 2014.

Men's department

history

The association was founded on March 12, 1907 in Barrio Reducto , Montevidean . Before professional football was introduced in Uruguay, the club's men's soccer team belonged to the Primera División in the 1909, 1928 and 1929 seasons . In the two seasons of 1923 and 1924, during the phase of the breakdown of the organizational structure in Uruguayan football , the parallel championship organized by the Federación Uruguaya de Football at the highest league level.

In 1920 the club won the championship in the Divisional Extra . In 1932 they became champions in the Intermedia Division. This was followed in 1933 by winning the title in Primera Amateur. In 1954 rose after-won that year championship in the Divisional Intermedia in the Primera B on. In 1964, the Colón FC as champions of the Primera B succeeded for the first time in times of professional football promotion to the Primera División. The team's coach at the time was Juan C. Ranzone . The team included the players Novasco, Baserga, Valdivia, Lorda, L. Arispe, H. Moyano, H. Ruiz Díaz, Roberto Lezcano, W. Castro, Raúl Gonzalez, Roberto Gonzalez, Anibal Merli, R Brasil, W. Sosa , De Brum and J. Gómez. In the 1965 season, however, they finished tenth and thus last place in the table and immediately rose again to the second division. In 1982 the club won the Segunda División championship for the last time under coach Líber Aríspe . The successful team included the players Modernel, Borreani, Sartorio, Mayol, Alvez, Beethoven Javier , Machado, Uruguay Gussoni , Repetto, Curutchet, Luis Varela , Pedro Grafigna , Sosa, Daniel Borges and Almada. In a subsequent, joint promotion or relegation relegation round with the participation of the teams from Huracán Buceo , Liverpool FC , Centro Atlético Fénix and the team from Colón FC, they only reached a draw from six games. With that, Colón finished fourth and last place. There was no ascent. Instead, 1985 was relegated to Divisional C , in which, however, as early as 1988, the team supervised by coach H. Collazo ensured victory in the championship and thus another class change. Eleven years later, in the 1999 season, the class could not be held again. Coach José Bornia led the team to the championship in the third-rate league Metropolitana Amateur the following year . In the 2001 season they finished 6th in the overall table in the Segunda División. Due to the club's economic difficulties, there was no match between 2004 and 2009. In the 2014/15 season, the club competes in the Segunda División Amateur . After completing Apertura 2014, the club's team finished 12th and last.

Women's section

history

Colón FC also has an extremely successful women's football division. The women's team won the Uruguayan national championship title (Copa de Oro) in 2013 and 2014. The club's U-16s also became Uruguayan champions in 2014, while the U-15s won the Torneo Promocional. The U-18 was runner-up in Torneo Promocional behind Nacional Montevideo . In 2015, the first team will compete in the Copa Libertadores .

Stadion

The club plays its home games in Parque Dr. Carlos Suero out. The venue has a spectator capacity of 2,000 people. It bears the name of the former club president who was in office from 1942.
