Gabriel Ebert

Gabriel Ebert (born in Denver , Colorado , United States) is an American musical actor and actor .

Career

Gabriel Ebert, son of a pastor and an occupational therapist , grew up in Lakewood , a suburb of Denver . As a child, he gained his first stage experience as a member of an opera choir and in the role of Amahl in several Amahl productions and the nightly visitors . In 2009 he graduated from the Juilliard School .

As swing for the role of Ken in Red , he made his Broadway debut in 2010 , in the same year he played Stanley in Brief Encounter as the first cast . His breakthrough came in 2012 as Leo in Amy Herzog's 4000 Miles , for which he was awarded an Obie Award . This arrangement was followed by his casting as Mr. Wormwood in the musical Matilda , who won the Tony Award for Best Supporting Actor . He played his first major role in a film in 2015 in Jane Wants a Boyfriend as a friend of the title character.
