Gabriela Friedli

Gabriela Friedli (* 1963 ) is a Swiss pianist and composer specializing in jazz and new improvisation music . She lives in the Zurich region.

Act

Friedli has been giving concerts with various projects and formations for many years. Ian Gordon-Lennox belongs to her quintet. With her trio, which includes Daniel Studer , bass, and Dieter Ulrich , drums, she presented the CD Started , the music of which was characterized in the NZZ as "from the future of jazz". Together with Co Streiff , she directs objets trouvés, which had released three albums by 2013. She is also a long-term member of Omri Brick's large formation "Cheap Farmer". Since 1991 she has formed the duo "Frappant" with Priska Walss ( Intervista , 2000–2002). She also belongs to the duo "Pianobits" with Karin Ernst and recorded with Tom Varner . Together with the pianists Manuela Keller and Claudia Ulla Binder she forms the trio tastressen. At the “Unheard of” Festival 2013 she appeared with Tony Malaby and Michael Griener .
