Daniel Studer (* 1961 ) is a Swiss double bass player and composer who is active in the field of improvisation music.

Live and act

Studer took part in jazz clinics in Perugia and Ravenna in the 1980s. In 1992 he obtained a double bass diploma at the Frosinone Conservatory. He then studied harmony and counterpoint with Gianpiero Bernardini until 1994 . From 1996 to 1999 he was guest composer with Thomas Kessler in the Electronic Studio Basel , after which he studied composition with Johannes Schöllhorn until 2001 .

He forms a double bass duo with Peter K. Frey . He also plays in the trio Kimmig Studer Zimmerlin , the Trio III-VII-XII (with Mischa Käser and Urs Haenggli ) and the String Trio Coen - Penazzi -Studer . In the In Transit group he works with Michael Jefry Stevens , Jürg Solothurnmann and Dieter Ulrich . He also performs regularly with Mischa Käser, Katharina Klement , Giancarlo Schiaffini and Alfred Zimmerlin .

Studer also worked on electronic live productions and multimedia projects. In addition to compositions for his own formations, he created works for jazz band and orchestra and various string formations. Teaches improvisation at various music schools and universities.
