Gabriela Pedro

María Gabriela Pedro is an Argentine writer and journalist, sculptor and painter.

Pedro studied journalism and art at the same time at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata . In addition, she completed a film degree at Manuel Antín's Universidad del Cine . With the support of the Universidad Católica Argentina and the newspaper Clarín she took part in 1990 on VI. Curso Superior de Perfeccionamiento Periodístico and then received a position as editor of the Clarín , which she held for ten years.

As a painter and sculptor, Pedro had solo exhibitions a. a. in the Galería Praxis Arte Internacional in Buenos Aires. In 1999 she received the Presidencia de la Nación Argentina special award . For six years she took part in Ana Emilia Lahitte's poetry workshops and published poems in Otras Paredes , Habla la piel and Hojas de Sudestada 105 .

In 2000 her book Tiempo Naranja, Bazar de Arte was published , which contains stories, poems and pictures by the author. In the same year she presented the book in the Centro Cultural Recoleta in a multimedia installation of paintings, music, videos, scenic representations and enlarged reproductions of the pages of her book, in which her poetry film Tropekúo was also shown. As a filmmaker, Pedro continued to shoot the short films Los Rezos and Oye Dali and wrote the screenplay for the feature film De Inundaciones Antiguas . As director of Kreart Multimedia , she has been responsible for numerous media productions for television and business since 1993.

Pedro is General Coordinator of the Press and Information Office of the Universidad Nacional del Centro , where she also holds two chairs for screenwriting. At the exhibition País Caído she showed sixteen socially critical works, her installation Entre las pirámides y la luna con Charly García with slides and music is based on conversations with the musician.
