Gabriele Iwersen
Gabriele Iwersen b. Grigoleit (born October 25, 1939 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and former member of the Bundestag.
Life
Iwersen graduated from high school in 1958 and then studied architecture and urban planning at the Technical University of Berlin until 1964 . After graduating, she spent a year in Stanford , California on a DAAD scholarship . After her return she worked as a construction manager and architect.
politics
Iwersen joined the SPD in 1971, from 1976 she was a member of the City Council of Wilhelmshaven and from 1986 mayor of the city. In 1990 she was elected to the Bundestag, to which she was a permanent member until 2002.
