Gabriele Perthes
Gabriele Perthes (born January 20, 1948 in Dessau ) is a former swimmer who competed for the GDR .
Career
Gabriele Perthes from SC DHfK Leipzig won the title with the freestyle relay and the title with the butterfly relay, which was last held in 1965 , at the GDR championships in 1965 . Two years later, at the GDR championships in 1967 , she won the titles with the freestyle relay and the individual relay relay, as well as the race over 100 meters freestyle, over 100 meters butterfly, she took second place. In 1968 she reached third place in the 100 meter freestyle behind Martina Grunert and Uta Schmuck . At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, the GDR freestyle relay with Gabriele Wetzko , Roswitha Krause , Uta Schmuck and Gabriele Perthes won the third heat in 4: 10.3 min, the best time of all three heats. In the final, Martina Grunert, Schmuck, Krause and Wetzko improved to 4: 05.7 min, but were second but over three seconds behind the victorious US season.
