The Gabon Warbler ( Bradypterus grandis ) is a songbird from the grass warbler family (Locustellidae). The bird is on the IUCN's early warning list as Near Threatened , because despite the relatively small number, it is not assumed that the population will dwindle. Its habitat is marshland, which has not yet been viewed as an endangered environment.

ID

The Gabonese warbler grows to about 19 centimeters. The relatively large songbird has a long, broad tail with a rusty brown color. The bird is mostly brown. On the neck and upper chest, the plumage is speckled gray and brown. Usually the bird only chirps softly. During the courtship season there will be stronger choppy calls. The courtship is supported by wild wing beats.

Distribution area

The Gabonese warbler has been sighted in southeast Cameroon , the Central African Republic and Gabon . In Cameroon, it has been observed in the Nki and Lobéké national parks and in Bitye in the Dja-et-Lobo district near the Dja wildlife reserve . In the Central African Republic it occurs in the Dzangha Ndoki National Park . In Gabon, the bird can be found in Mimongo , M'Bigou and Massif of Chaillu . The species has also been reported from Lopé National Park and most frequently from Langhoué .

It is also assumed that the species occurs in the swamp areas of Rhynchospora in southeast Cameroon, in eastern Gabun, in the north of the Republic of the Congo and in the south of the Central African Republic. However, due to the difficult accessibility of the area, no reliable data are known about the occurrence of the Gabonese warbler.
