William Robert Ogilvie-Grant

William Robert Ogilvie-Grant (born March 25, 1863 in Easter Elchies, Morayshire , Scotland , † July 26, 1924 in Farley Cottage, near Reading , England ) was a Scottish ornithologist .

Grant, who had been using the name Ogilvie-Grant since around 1901/02 , joined the British Museum at the age of 19. In 1890 he married Maud Louisa Pechell, eldest daughter of Vice Admiral Mark Pechell. In the First World War Ogilvie-Grant was severely wounded. He wrote many scientific works and went on research trips, u. a. 1898 with Henry Ogg Forbes to Socotra and Abd al-Kuri . Ogilvie-Grant co-founded the Society for the Promotion of Nature Reserves .

Ogilvie-Grant was a bird curator at the British Museum from 1909 to 1918 .
