Gadchiroli is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra . The city is located in the east of the state and is close to the geographic center of India.
The city is the administrative seat of the Gadchiroli district of the same name . Gadchiroli has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 23 wards . It had 54,152 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of which 27,569 were men and 26,583 women. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 79%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 90.45%, well above the national average.
Gadchiroli is connected to Chandrapur , Nagpur , Bhandara and Gondia by roads. There are no rail links to Gadchiroli and the nearest train station is in Desaiganj .
Gadchiroli is known for its forests. Teak is grown commercially and bamboo is used for various handicrafts.
