Gaetano Morelli

Gaetano Morelli (born  May 23, 1900 in Crotone , †  May 22, 1989 in Rome ) was an Italian lawyer .

He completed his law studies in 1921 with a doctorate at the University of Rome under the influence of Dionisio Anzilotti and later worked as a professor at the Universities of Modena , Padua , Naples and from 1951 at the University of Rome. In 1937 and 1956 he lectured at the Hague Academy of International Law . From 1961 to 1970 he worked for a regular nine-year term as a judge at the International Court of Justice in The Hague , where he had previously served as an ad hoc judge in one case.

Gaetano Morelli was admitted to the Institut de Droit international in 1950, whose 56th session, held in Rome in 1973, he chaired, and was a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration from 1955 . In addition, he was from 1956 as a corresponding and from 1963 as a full member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei . The focus of his work was international procedural law and international civil procedural law .
