Gaius Antistius Vetus (Consul 23)

Gaius Antistius Vetus was a Roman senator at the beginning of the 1st century AD and son of the consul of the same name in 6 BC. In the year 20 he was praetor urbanus , three years later he was full consul. According to an inscription ( CIL 14, 4704 ) he was curator riparum et alvei Tiberis (responsible for the maintenance of the banks and the riverbed of the Tiber ). His sons were Gaius Antistius Vetus , consul in 50, Camerinus Antistius Vetus and probably Lucius Antistius Vetus , consul in 55.
