Gaius Atilius Regulus (Consul 225 BC)
Gaius Atilius Regulus († 225 BC ) was a Roman politician who died in the Battle of Telamon .
It comes from the Atilii Reguli, which were important in the 4th and 3rd centuries . His father was the famous consul in 267 and 255 BC. BC, Marcus Atilius Regulus , who died in Carthaginian captivity; his brother Marcus was consul in 227 and 217 BC. He himself was 225 BC. Elected consul with Lucius Aemilius Papus and sent to Sardinia to suppress an uprising. On his return to Italy he and his colleague at Telamon encountered a large Celtic army. The Romans won a great victory, but Regulus fell in battle.
