Gaius Manlius

Gaius Manlius († 62 BC ) was a co-conspirator of Lucius Sergius Catilina . He belonged to the patrician dynasty of the Manlier. 63 BC According to Cicero, he set up camps at Faesulae in Etruria to support Catiline, for which, according to Sallust, he also received money. Catiline went to see him on November 8, 63 after Cicero had attacked him in the Senate. After the failure of the conspiracy in Rome and the execution of several supporters of Catiline, the Catilinarians tried to withdraw to Gaul. However, they were provided by the army of Gaius Antonius Hybrida . Manlius was killed in the ensuing battle .
