Gaius Minicius Italus (* in the 1st century, † in the 2nd century) was a Roman knight from Aquileia . In Aquileia he exercised several municipal functions. In the Roman army he served as an officer in the province of Germania inferior .

The military career of Minicius Italus consisted of five successive stations and thus went beyond the tres militiae usual for a member of the equestrian order . First, as Prefect, he successively took over the management of the following auxiliary units : the Cohors V Gallorum , the Cohors I Breucorum and the Cohors II Varcianorum . He then became a tribunus militum of the Legio VI Victrix . The conclusion was formed by his command as prefect of the Ala I Flavia Singularium . For his achievements in the military, probably due to his victorious battles during the Batavian revolt , he was awarded the dona militaria by Emperor Vespasian .

After his military career, he was employed as financial procurator at the Hellespont and as procurator in the province of Asia . There he exercised by order of Emperor Domitian probably in 88 for the deceased incumbent, Gaius Vetulenus Civica Cerealis , the deputy governor of the province. This was followed by a power of attorney in the province of Lugdunensis and one in the province of Aquitaine (Lactora). Subsequently, Gaius Minicius Italus was responsible for the province's grain supply as Praefectus annonae in Aquitaine .

At the end of his traditional career, he was appointed governor of the imperial province of Egypt in 101 . He held the office until the year 103. In 105 he was given an equestrian statue in Aquileia as an award because his request had prompted Emperor Trajan to prescribe the performance of munera to non-citizens living in Aquileia .
