Gaius Quinctius Certus Poblicius Marcellus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gaius Quinctius Certus Poblicius Marcellus (full name form Gaius Quinctius Gai filius Velina Certus Poblicius Marcellus ) was a Roman politician living in the 2nd century AD . In the military diplomas his name is given as Gaius Publicius Marcellus .

Through military diplomas, e.g. T. are dated June 29, 120, it is documented that Marcellus 120 was together with Lucius Rutilius Propinquus suffect consul ; the two consuls presumably held their office from May to June. They are also proven in this function by the arval files .

An inscription shows that Marcellus Augur and governor ( Legatus Augusti pro praetore ) were in the provinces of Germania superior and Syria ; he was governor in Germania superior probably around 121/128 and governor in Syria probably around 130/135.

Marcellus was inscribed in the Velina Tribus .
