Gala is a village in the municipality of Örnsköldsvik in the Swedish province of Västernorrlands län or the historic province of Ångermanland , about 20 kilometers northwest of Örnsköldsvik . The village is located on the right bank of the Moälven just before its outflow into the Happstafjärden , on the road ( Länsväg 348) between the Moliden and Billsta crime scenes .
In Gala is Galastan, an old trading post. Up to here, one kilometer upstream of the Happstafjärden, sailed ships and later steamers with passengers and fish went. There have been many sawmills on the Moälven since the sixteenth century and a brisk traffic of tugs hauling tree trunks to the various sawmills and, after processing, to be shipped to Domsjö .
