Galderic, French Gaudéric , Occitan: Gauderic (* around 830 in Vievila, renamed Saint-Gaudéric today , Carcassès; † 900 ) is a saint of the Roman Catholic Church and the patron saint of farmers in the Catalan regions . His feast day is October 16 .

Around 990 the farmer Galderic was canonized as a saint at a provincial council in Narbonne . From the turn of the millennium he became the patron saint of farmers in the Catalan regions.

His place of birth was renamed " Sant Galderic ". Saint Galderic was venerated as the patron saint of the peasants, first in Roussillon , then in the High Middle Ages throughout the entire Catalan principate , until he was increasingly replaced in this role by Saint Isidore of Madrid . His feast day is still celebrated today on October 15th in various Catalan villages with masses, fundraising, large banquets, balls and dances. The Benedictine monks from the “ Sant Martí del Canigó ” monastery kept parts of his relics. In periods of drought, they were carried in procession from the Canigou down to the Perpignan plain and as far as the sea. Reginal de Poc wrote a biography of Saint Galderic in Spanish in 1627. There are two biographies in French: one anonymous (Perpignan, 1716) and one by Martí Jampy from 1828.
