Galería de Arte Mexicano

The Galería de Arte Mexicano (GAM; span. For Gallery of Mexican Art ) was on March 7, 1935 in City Mexico of Carolina and Inés Amor founded and was the first gallery for modern art in the city. The building was the first construction by the Mexican architect Casillas de Alba .

The aim of the institution is to establish local artists and promote young talent. The museum has the most comprehensive collection of modern, Mexican and contemporary art. In 1940 the International Surrealism Exhibition took place here under the direction of Wolfgang Paalen and César Moro .

So far, the gallery has organized over 900 events, including exhibitions for Diego Rivera , Fernando Leal Audirac , José Clemente Orozco , David Alfaro Siqueiros , Miguel Covarrubias , Rufino Tamayo , Frida Kahlo , Wolfgang Paalen, Agustín Lazo and other well-known artists.
