The Galesus is a karst river in Puglia with a short course that has its source in a small lake in the territory of Taranto . It flows into the Mar Piccolo at a depth of 13 m. The river is 900 m long, about 50 cm deep and reaches a width of 12-14 m. Its water volume is 4000 l / s. The medieval Cistercian abbey of Santa Maria del Galeso was located on Galesus .
