Galy Galiano is a Colombian musician who specializes in salsa , ranchera , ballads and traditional Colombian music such as vallenato and cumbia .

Career

Galy Galiano comes from the Colombian Atlantic coast and was born in Chiriguaná / Departamento Cesar . In his later musical work he always emphasized his Caribbean roots. His first music group was Los Diamantes del Cesar. It consisted mainly of his friends, who lived with him in a slum area, and belonged to the local Vallenato bands.

Later Galy Galiano went to Bogotá to study music. There he met Ricardo Acosta, who recorded and produced his music. His stage name Galy Galiano was given to him by Acosta. In 1981 Galiano recorded his first LP entitled " Frío de ausencia ", which earned him the Dama de Plata (German: Silver Lady ) award in Guatemala and became the best-selling record in Central America before it was first known in his native Colombia . In Billboard Magazine this title held for three months at number one. He later became famous with songs like " No Creo en Ti ", " Alma Solitaria ", " Miedo del Olvido ", " Igual que Ayer ", " En un pequeño motel ", " Lo tengo Decidido " and " Celoso " in Latin America as well famous among the Hispanic population of the United States .

In 1991 he had great success in Mexico with ballads like “ La Quiero ” or “ Cuanto La Extraño ” and thus led the salsa charts for a long time. In 1992 his album " Sólo salsa " came out, which was also very successful. His greatest successes in the USA, Mexico, Central America, Venezuela , Ecuador and Colombia were hits like " La Cita ", " Qué Te Aleja de Mí " or " Te Olvidaste de Mí ".

His best-known song is “ La Cita ”, which was trend-setting in the Salsa Erótica style. In 1994 Galy Galiano won the Premio Ronda award in Venezuela for the best-selling album. In the same year Galiano turned back to the subject of ballads with the production "Amor de Primavera". This album sold more than 400,000 times. In 1996 Galiano produced songs in the Ranchera style and sold 500,000 records of his work " Me bebí tu recuerdo ". In the period between 1997 and 1998, other similar melancholy tracks followed, such as “ Bebiendo para olvidar ” and “ No volveré a casarme ”, which brought him both national and international success. Galy Galiano had record deals with Sony / BMG and RCA, among others.

Style and meaning

Galy Galeano had one of the great successes of his time in the music style of Salsa Erótica with his song " La Cita ". " La Cita " is about a secret rendezvous in the motel, the motives of infidelity and fraud. Galiano dealt with a similar topic in his song “ En un pequeño motel ”.
