The Gam Point is a rocky headland on the north coast of King George Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is 3 km southeast of False Round Point on the shores of Venus Bay .
The headland is one of the objects that the Scottish geologist David Ferguson (1857–1936) named jointly as Esther Islands , Pyritis Islands or Pyritic Islands during his exploration trip (1913–1914) . However, based on aerial photographs, the island location of the object described here, as assumed by him, turned out to be an error. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee made the designation in 1960. "Gam" was the common term among whale and seal hunters for a joint meeting to exchange information. The neighboring Esther Harbor was often used for this .
