Game of Werewolves - The Hunt Begins is a Spanish horror comedy directed by Juan Martínez Moreno . The film premiered at the Sitges Film Festival in October 2011 .

action

The film begins in 1910 in the village of Arga in Galicia . Countess Mariño, after numerous unsuccessful attempts to get pregnant, kidnapped a man from a group of gypsies traveling through and forced them to have sex. In order to keep her deed and the father of her son a secret, she has all the gypsies murdered. The abducted gypsy's wife curses the village with her last words. The countess's son is said to become a werewolf at the age of ten.

Exactly 100 years later, the unsuccessful writer Tomás Mariño, the Countess' last male descendant, visits Arga. The villagers then try to sacrifice him to the werewolf in order to lift the curse. Together with his editor Mario and his childhood friend Calisto, Tomás tries to save himself.

criticism

" Game of Werewolves is pretty and harmless horror comedy, which is not exactly original and a little too long, but trumps with charm and playfulness."

- Robert Cherkowski, www.filmstarts.de

“A humorous, deliberately old-fashioned werewolf film, almost completely without special effects and without a greasy love story, that is rare. For that reason alone, genre fans should take a look at Game of Werewolves. There is not much shuddering, but laughing all the more. "
