Gaming keyboard

A gaming keyboard is a keyboard with special functions for controlling computer games . In addition, gaming keyboards often have design elements that are based on the aesthetics of computer games instead of reminiscent of the office world of conventional keyboards.

Gaming keyboards often differ from conventional keyboards in:

  • faster responsiveness of the buttons to other (often mechanical) contacts
  • Ability to press more keys at the same time than with normal keyboards
  • more keys for additional functions, special keys
  • Keys that can be programmed or configured with macros
  • LC displays for status displays on the keyboard, for the first time in 2005
  • Backlight of the keys
  • different color design, different shape

Gaming keyboards are now connected to computers via USB or wirelessly.

Logitech G15 (first edition)

In 2005 the Logitech G15 came onto the market, the first keyboard for home users with an LC display and macro- programmable keys. The Logitech G11 was launched in 2006: it is similar to the G15, but has no LCD and is therefore cheaper.

Gaming keyboard suppliers are or were u. a. Corsair , Logitech , Alienware , Acer Predator, Mad Catz, Razer , Saitek (acquired by Logitech in 2016) and Steelseries.
