The common stilt bug ( Gampsocoris punctipes ) is a bug from the family of stilt bugs (Berytidae).
features
The bugs are 3.4 to 4.3 millimeters long. They have a delicate build with a dark head and abdomen, pale thin legs and a greenish colored abdomen. There is a long thorn on the scutellum . The species can be confused with Gampsocoris culicinus .
distribution and habitat
The species is common in Europe, with the exception of the north, in North Africa and east to the Black Sea region and Asia Minor. It is widespread in Germany, but is particularly lacking locally in the northwest. In Austria the distribution situation is still unclear due to confusion with Gampsocoris culicinus . In Great Britain, it is common in much of England and Wales. It is rare in Ireland. Above all, dry, warm, open areas are populated with no preference in terms of soil quality.
Way of life
The animals live on the rest of the world ( Ononis ), especially on the thorny restoration ( Ononis spinosa ) and the creeping restoration ( Ononis repens ). The development takes place in the same way as with Gampsocoris culicinus : the eggs are laid in May and June, the adult animals of the new generation appear from August. The overwintering takes place as an imago in loose soil litter , often under the food plants.
