The Gamsberg is a mountain in eastern Switzerland with an altitude of 2385 m above sea level. M. He is also called Gemsler by the locals . It is the highest point of the massif between Walensee and Toggenburg and thus also the political community of Grabs in the canton of St. Gallen .
The Gamsberg has a distinctive, 500 meter long, roughly horizontal summit ridge. This makes it appear massive and wide when viewed from the north and south. The flanks are steep, partly rugged and have little vegetation. This makes it look rough, harsh and repellent. The long, horizontal summit ridge and the steepness on all sides distinguish it from the mountains in the area.
Routes to the summit
It is seldom climbed. The normal route leads over a double-lane channel ("railway track") near the east ridge. There is also a route through the north flank, one through the south flank and two from the west to the summit. There is no marked hiking trail on the Gamsberg and climbing is required on all routes.
