Gankino Circus is a Franconian folk band founded in Dietenhofen in 2007 .

history

The members of Gankino Circus have known each other from their childhood days, spent their school days together and played in the same marching band. From 2007, the artists began performing as street musicians. The band name comes from the Bulgarian dance Gankino of the same name. In 2010 they released their debut album Das Potpourri Des Herr Baron Von Gunzenhausen . Just one year later, the second album, For the First Time In Your City, follows . Gankino Circus are also successful nationwide. B. as support for the Finnish Humppa band Eläkeläiset on tour and were awarded the European folk music award Iron Eversteiner of the audience in 2012.

In summer 2013 and autumn 2014, Gankino Circus traveled to the Ukraine and to the German embassy in Sofia for concerts and workshops at the invitation of the Goethe Institute . With Franconian Boogaloo , the third album was released in 2014. As part of the 15th anniversary celebration of the language learning centers in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Gankino Circus organized a tour in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan together with the Goethe Institute. The year 2017 and 2019 started with a cooperation with the Franconian cabaret artist Matthias Egersdörfer .
