The goose brewery in Neumarkt

The Gansbräu , partly also Gansbrauerei , is a beer brewery in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz , Bavaria. It has been owned by the Ehrnsperger family since 1866 and is now run by the Ötzinger and Zinnhobel families; its origins can be traced back to 1580.

The brewery is located in the Ringstrasse directly on the city wall between the Powder Tower and the former Upper Gate. The brewery also includes the restaurants Oberer Ganskeller at Oberen Tor, Mittlerer Ganskeller at Oberen Markt and Unterer Ganskeller at Untere Tor.

Types of beer

The types of beer include Gansbräu- Hell , Gansbräu- Dunkel , Gansbräu- Pils , Gansbräu-Festbier and Gansbräu- Radler . Every three years the festival beer is served at the Jura Volksfest and the Spring Festival in Neumarkt. Since the city anniversary “850 years Neumarkt” there has also been the Gansbräu red beer “Anno 1160”, which won the silver medal at the European Beer Star in 2010 and 2012 .
