Ganta , also Gahnpa , is the largest city in Nimba County in Liberia , West Africa, by population . About 41,100 people live here, a large part of the population is of Muslim faith.

Ganta is on the border with Guinea and lies on the Mani River , the main tributary of the Saint John River . With the support of the United Methodist Church , doctors founded Dr. George Harley and his wife Winifred run the Ganta Hospital , this hospital now cares for more than 450,000 residents in northern Liberia and the neighboring states.

The Dakar-Lagos Highway leads from Monrovia through the town to the border with Ivory Coast.
