Garnet Carter
Garnet Carter (born February 9, 1883 in Sweetwater , Lewis County , Tennessee , † July 21, 1954 in Lookout Mountain , Hamilton County , Tennessee) was the inventor of miniature golf .
Career
In 1927 he opened his first lane golf course at the Fairyland Club in Lookout Mountain . To his surprise, the course was taken over by adults who enjoyed the miniaturized fairway.
He then began to produce other mini golf courses under the patented name Tom Thumb Golf . In 1930 there were 25,000 places in the United States. In 1932 he sold the rights and opened Frieda's Rock City Garden with his wife .
