Garpun
Garpun (German: Harpune, Russian Гарпун , GRAU index : 14F136) is the name of a series of military communication satellites from Russia .
The satellites weigh around 2.4 t and are placed in a geostationary orbit. The satellites are being built by ISS Reshetnjow , based in Zheleznogorsk, northeast of Krasnoyarsk . The task of the satellites is to forward large amounts of data, which are generated, for example, during the operation of Russian remote sensing and reconnaissance satellites in lower earth orbits, to appropriately set up ground stations. They should serve as a replacement for the satellites of the Potok / Geizer series.
