The Tulln Garden is a state horticultural show of the federal state of Lower Austria in Tulln on the Danube that was set up in 2008 and subsequently became a permanent establishment.

The Lower Austrian State Garden Show described itself as the first ecological and permanent State Garden Show in Europe .

After a construction period of two years, the opening took place in April 2008. It was created from the beginning according to the same ecological criteria that are decisive for the state campaign Nature in the Garden , which the Lower Austrian state government launched for private garden owners in 1999 .

The site is located west of the city between the Tullner exhibition grounds and the Rose Bridge over the Danube. It is divided into two areas, of which the smaller part with a size of about seven hectares shows show gardens and plants, while the larger, 45 hectare part consists of freely accessible alluvial forest, which has been renatured by planting various trees and shrubs and equipped with paths . Over 27,000 perennials, 3,500 shrubs and 6,000 marsh and aquatic plants were planted in around 60 show and model gardens.

In addition to the gardens, a guest area with a restaurant and seminar facilities was built. A highlight is the 30 m high treetop path, which can be reached both on foot and with an elevator.

By September 2009, 500,000 visitors could be counted.

23 million euros were invested, which aroused criticism because of the doubling of the planned project costs by the audit office , but is justified by the state government due to the expansion of the facility.

The Tulln garden is also a research facility that works together with the Tulln campus , the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna .

Die Garten Tulln has been a member of the Austrian Botanical Gardens Association since September 2014.
