The agricultural vocational and technical school Ritzlhof as the agricultural technical school of the state for horticulture is located in the municipality of Ansfelden in the Linz-Land district in Upper Austria . The school building is a listed building .
history
The school building was erected in 1875, and on November 15, 1875, Governor Moritz Eigner opened the agricultural school in Ritzlhof am Berg. In 1968, the training branch for livestock farming was transferred to the Otterbach Agricultural College . The existing building, a square courtyard, was expanded with a square atrium made of wood according to the plans of the Dickinger-Ramoni architects.

It includes classrooms, practice areas for floral, gardening and landscaping activities as well as a 190 bed boarding school with an in-house kitchen. A leisure area with show and themed gardens as well as a nursery complete the didactic equipment.
Branches of education
The Ritzlhof Horticultural School offers three courses. In addition to the regular training branches, advanced training seminars are offered for graduates and those interested.
- Technical school for horticulture, floristry and garden and green space design : The four-year technical school for gardening , floristry and green space design can be attended after the eighth grade. The graduates complete with the legal recognition for the professions of agricultural gardener, florist and garden and green space designer. A 3-month and a 10-month compulsory internship must be completed during the training. In a 5th year, students can complete a year of preparation for the Matura at a partner school and take the Matura there.
- Vocational school for horticulture : As part of the dual education system in Austria, the LWBFS Ritzlhof offers apprentices in the job description of agricultural gardeners the opportunity to supplement the knowledge acquired in the training companies.
- Evening school for horticulture : The evening school for horticulture with the target group of those already working in horticulture offers over a period of two years a preparation for taking the skilled worker examination in the occupation of agricultural gardeners. Requirements for the visit are at least two years of full-time employment or four years of part-time employment in the relevant occupations. The exam can be taken from the age of 21.
