history

In Otterbach , a kind of public education center with lectures and courses was started from 1890 on the so-called model estate of the farmer Georg Wieninger with the agricultural district association, whose chairman was Wieninger. Thereby exhibits from all over the world were shown in a museum.

On September 14, 1911, after a festive service in the parish church of Schärding and a subsequent trip to Ottersbach, the school was opened with the festival guests. The school began with a one-year housekeeping school for farmers' daughters and a two-year training school for traveling teachers, housekeeping teachers and specialists in health resorts, sanatoriums and hospitals. The housekeeping school served the women's school as a practice school. Both schools had 24 students. The women's school was closed in 1921 and the housekeeping school for farmers' daughters was relocated to Bergheim Castle in Feldkirchen an der Donau . A housekeeping school for girls next to a winter school for boys was run from 1939 to 1947 and moved to Mauerkirchen in 1947 .

In 1920 a two-year agricultural winter school for boys was started. In 1968 the livestock school was relocated from the Ritzlhof agricultural vocational and technical college to Otterbach. In 1977 the school building was modernized and received an extension with a workshop wing and a gym. From 1976/1977 the training was conducted over three years, from 1990/1991 four years. From 2000 to 2006 the school was expanded with a fruit processing facility and a distillery with a laboratory.
