Johann Brait

Johann Brait (born October 9, 1937 in Münzkirchen ) is an Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). From 1984 to 1997 he was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag .

Life

Brait, the third child of a farming family in Münzkirchen, attended the Otterbach Agricultural College in St. Florian am Inn from 1960 . In 1965 he passed the master craftsman examination and took over the family farm. He has been married since 1962 and has five children; one of his sons is the mayor of St. Florian am Inn, Bernhard Brait.

politics

Brait had been a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag since December 1984, where he replaced Josef Landlinger . In the XXIV legislative period from 1991, Brait was chairman of the committee for economic affairs as well as a member of the committee for construction and road affairs and the EU and integration committee; He was also a deputy chairman of the ÖVP state parliament club. After the previous club chairman, Franz Hiesl, was appointed to the state government as regional councilor in 1995 , Brait took over his function. In 1997 he left the state parliament at the end of the XXIV legislative period.

In addition, from 1985 Brait was district chairman of the farmers' union in Schärding and chairman of the district chamber of farmers in Schärding. From 1999 to 2014 he was district old farmer chairman, from 2013 to 2017 chairman of the senior citizens' association St. Florian am Inn.
