Gary Gensler

Gary Gensler (* 1957 in Baltimore , Maryland ) is an American politician and chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission under US President Barack Obama .

Life

Gensler studied from 1974 to 1978 at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania , which he obtained with a B.Sc. of Economics graduated. In 1979 he was awarded the MBA . Gensler then worked for the American investment bank Goldman Sachs before starting his political career.

Gensler was from 1997 to 1999 Under - Secretary of the Treasury ( Assistant Secretary of the Treasury ); then he served as Under Secretary of the Treasury until 2001 .

In 2004 he was electoral candidate for John F. Kerry at Electoral College .

He was married to Francesca Danieli († 2006), with whom he has three daughters, and lives near Baltimore.
