The Hundem in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Olpe ( Germany ) is an approximately 15 km long, orographically left-sided and southeastern tributary of the Lenne in the Sauerland part of the Rothaar Mountains .
course
The Hundem has its source in the south-western center of the Rothaar Mountains in the Sauerland-Rothaar Mountains Nature Park . Its source is about 2.2 km (as the crow flies ) east-northeast of the village of Oberhundem (to Kirchhundem ) at about 615 m above sea level. NHN on the northwest flank of the wooded Riesenberg ( 724.7 m ), which lies between the Kahleberg ( 710.9 m ) in the north-northwest and the Hohen Hessel ( 743.6 m ) in the southeast. The Rhine-Weser watershed runs over the Wildhöfer ( 727.9 m ) elevation a little southeast of the Riesenberg .
To the west of the main ridge of the Rothaargebirge, the Hundem flows predominantly westwards - initially in the municipality of Kirchhundem. In this case, it takes at the beginning southwest through forest running, immediately after passing flow of Oberhundem the Wigge on. From then on, the stream runs in a forest-lined valley, roughly along the state road 553 westwards to and through Würdinghausen , after which the Albaumer Bach flows into it, and then further south past Herrntrop , to and through the Kirchhundemer core town.
Then the Hundem reaches the urban area of Lennestadt after picking up the Olpe and after crossing under the federal highway 517 and the Ruhr-Sieg route ; Above it, she moved to the Ebbegebirge Nature Park until 2015 , which is now part of the first-mentioned nature park. From there it flows along the main road and railway line and later also along the L 715 northwards through the village of Altenhundem (to Lennestadt).
Directly after flowing through Altenhundem and crossing under the federal highway 236 , where the Hundem used to switch back to the Rothaargebirge nature park, it flows into the Lenne tributary of the Ruhr at about 270 m above sea level .
