Gary Hug is an American amateur astronomer and asteroid explorer. He and his colleague Graham E. Bell run the Farpoint Observatory of the Northeast Kansas Amateur Astronomers League (NEKAAL) in Eskridge , Kansas .
During his observations, he discovered over 40 asteroids between 1999 and 2006. He is also the co-discoverer of the short-period comet 178P / Hug-Bell .
Awards
He is, along with two other amateur astronomers, the recipient of the Gene Shoemaker NEO Grant of 2009.
