(23989) Farpoint is an asteroid of the main belt , which by on 3 September 1999 American US amateur astronomer Gary Hug and Graham E. Bell at Farpoint Observatory ( IAU code 734) in Kansas was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the location of its discovery, the Farpoint Observatory.
