Andrei Alexandrowitsch Sujew ( Russian Андрей Александрович Зуев ; born May 18, 1964 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian ice hockey goalkeeper and current coach .

Career

Andrei Sujew began his career as a hockey player at Metallurg Tscheljabinsk and Avtomobilist Sverdlovsk , for which he was active between 1983 and 1991 in the Vysschaya League , the highest Soviet league, among others . For the 1991/92 season , the goalkeeper moved to HK tractor Chelyabinsk , for whom he was between the posts in the International Hockey League from 1992 to 1996 . In the 1992/93 season he was voted the best player in the league. From 1996 to 1999 he played for Traktor Tscheljabinsk and then for three years for their city neighbor HK Metschel Tscheljabinsk in the Russian Super League . Most recently he appeared from 2002 to 2005 for the HK tractor Chelyabinsk in the second-rate Wysschaja Liga. He then ended his active career at the age of 41.

From 2008 to 2010 Sujew worked as an assistant coach for the HK tractor Chelyabinsk in the Continental Hockey League . He then spent two years as a goalkeeping coach at his league rivals OHK Dynamo . For the 2012/13 season he was goalkeeping coach at HK Sokol Krasnoyarsk from the Wysschaja Hockey League , the second Russian division.

International

For Russia , Sujew took part in the World Championships in 1993 and 1995 . He was also in his country's squad at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer . At the 1993 World Cup he won the gold medal with his team.
