Gas company
Gas companies or gas companies are companies in the gas - in particular the natural gas sector . In a broader sense, the term also includes business with other fuel gases such as liquefied petroleum gas and town gas .
The business with natural gas, similarly with other fuel gases, is divided into three areas:
- Upstream : includes extraction (essentially exploration and production)
- Midstream : includes transport, for example via gas pipelines and as liquefied natural gas
- Downstream : Comprises the preparation, marketing and delivery of e.g. B. via the distribution network
Because of the similarities in the production (sometimes even common deposits ) and the partial substitutability as an energy source, there is a close connection with the oil industry .
