Gaspar Camps in Junyent
Gaspar Camps i Junyent (born December 29, 1874 in Igualada , † April 11, 1942 in Barcelona ) was a Spanish painter, illustrator and poster artist of Art Nouveau and Art Deco .
He studied at the Schools of Fine Arts of Igualada and Barcelona. Between 1894 and 1897 he lived in Paris, where he was a student of Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant , William Adolphe Bouguereau and Jean Paul Laurens . At that time he was influenced by Alfons Mucha .
From 1905 he lived permanently in France, first in Paris, then until 1920 in Toulouse . Gaspar Camps i Junyent designed advertising posters for the Champenois printing company.
During a stay in Barcelona he created illustrations for Catalan modernist magazines and books by Catalan authors such as Pluma y Lápiz and Alben Salón.
He moved to Toulouse, the seat of the Sirven printing company, where he worked as artistic director. A branch of the printing company was opened in Barcelona around 1920. In his work he switched from Art Nouveau to Art Déco.
