Gaspare Messina

Gaspare Messina (born August 7, 1879 in Sicily , † June 15, 1957 in the USA ) was an Italian-American mobster of the Cosa Nostra and founder of the Boston Crime Family , which united with the Providence Crime Family in 1932 and called New England Crime Family or later known as the Patriarca Family .

Life

In 1905 Messina emigrated from Sicily with his wife Francesca (Reggio) Messina, his brother Phillip and his wife Giovanna and went to Brooklyn (New York). However, Phillip later separated from his family. A few years after arriving in New York, Gaspare, Francesca, and Phillips' wife, Giovanna, moved to Boston, Massachusetts. Gaspare and Francesca had three sons: Salvatore, Luciano and Vito and also a daughter named Gasparina. Giovanna also named her son Luciano.

Messina founded the Boston Crime Family in 1916, but resigned from office and retired in 1924. Filippo Buccola took office as the new head of the Boston faction and united his family with the Providence faction, creating the New England Crime Family.

Gaspare Messina died of natural causes in Somerville, Massachusetts on June 15, 1957 .
