Mečislovas Vaičys

Mečislovas Vaičys (born January 28, 1929 in Tartokas , Ignalina Rajongemeinde ) is a Lithuanian forest scientist and soil scientist .

Life

Vaičys grew up in a rural family. He lived in the Vilnius area occupied by Poland until 1939 and was supposed to study Polish in elementary school. In 1947 Vaičys graduated from the Kazimieras Būga -Gymnasium Zarasai and in 1948 the courses in forest inventory in Kaunas . Then he worked as a technician. From 1949 to 1954 he graduated with distinction in forestry engineering at the Lietuvos žemės ūkio akademija near Kaunas and worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the Miškų institutas in Girionys . From 1954 to 1958 he graduated from the postgraduate at the Forest Institute Moscow Academy of Sciences of the USSR . In 1958 he received his doctorate on land soil in biology as a candidate for science. 1973 Vaičys completed his habilitation and taught as a professor in Kaunas. From 1984 to 1988 he was director of the Lietuvos miškų institutas.
