Gassenjungen (original title: Gategutter ) is a Norwegian fictional film in black and white from 1949 by the two directors Arne Skouen and Ulf Greber . The former also wrote the script. This is based on his novel of the same name. The film first came to the cinema on December 26, 1949 in Norway.
action
In Oslo in the early 1930s, the bread basket hangs high for many families, and it's not just a thirst for adventure that makes guys like Karsten and Gotfred jump on trucks to get their share of the load. The knife that Gotfred injured on one of these jumping tours and the wound it tears are not uncommon either.
In a harsh environment, their laws are also harsh: if you talk, you get a beating. Little Sofus has to find out, too, who is caught on a foray and - at least that's how it seems - applauded at the police station. The fat little guy, not a member of the autopilot gang, suddenly sees himself being expelled from the community; only Karsten feels sorry for him. Together, the two try to break out of their milieu by looking for work, Karsten as a delivery boy in a shop, Sofus as the “girl for everything” at a sheet metal cutter. It doesn't go well for long, however; when Karsten would like to become a real apprentice, he is laughed at and sent away. Together with Sofus, the disappointed finds himself in the ranks of the old “friends” who use stones and fists to attack the strike breakers who are denying their fathers jobs.
criticism
The Protestant film observer summarized his opinion 18 years after the creation of the work as follows: "Despite some lengths a considerable and worth seeing film from 16."
