A gas day is in the field of gas industry the 24-hour period at which at a gas hub, z. B. the European Energy Exchange in Leipzig, gas quantities are traded. It lasts from 5:00 a.m. UTC to 5:00 UTC on the following day for standard time and from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. UTC on the following day if daylight saving time applies. In Germany, the gas day is usually from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. (CET) the following day. This also corresponds to the definition of the beginning on October 1 at 6:00 am gas year in the Gas Network Charges Ordinance . The gas day starts at 6:00 a.m. in the gas industry because, in the standard load profile, daily gas consumption is low at night and increases around 6:00 a.m. in the morning.
