The Gasthaus zur Blauen Traube is a building from the 16th to 17th centuries in Memmingen in Upper Swabia .

Construction and location

The three-story corner house is in the middle of the northern pedestrian zone . Today's address is Kramerstraße 8. Its core probably dates from the 16th to 17th centuries. It burned down in 1845 but was rebuilt in the same forms. The southern part is now used as a guest room, the northern part as a retail store.

The nose shield with wrought iron bars and acantus volutes was created around 1800.

history

The house used to be a messenger house. On the ground floor there was a stable for courier horses for the courier services to the northern surrounding communities in the direction of Niederrieden and Boos . They took on the task of transporting the heavy shopping of the population.

Johann Sigmund Schiderlin is recorded as the owner of the building in the town's first register of residents from 1799 and 1813.

A document dated May 5, 1820 can be found in the city archive of Memmingen. It is an irrevocable engagement contract to prevent future difficulties between the innkeeper Catharina Stetter from Memmingen and the citizen's son Johann Erdmannsdörfer from Gunzenhausen. The building has been owned by the Bilgram family since the First World War . On November 9, 1956, the then tenant Walter Knäble applied to move the taproom to the ground floor. This request was granted. In front of the entrance area, in the adjacent pedestrian zone, the inn has outside seating.
