Gasthof zum Schwanen (Füssen)
The Gasthof zum Schwanen (also Gasthaus zum Schwanen ) is a monument in the old town of Füssen in the Ostallgäu district . It bears the address Brotmarkt 4 , a place with late Gothic houses in the core opposite the main monastery entrance.
It is a two-storey, eaves-sided house with a stepped gable made of high pointed arches facing the monastery of Sankt Mang . It is cut off by an adjoining house. The tracery-like plaster structure of the panels dates from the 19th century. On the ground floor there is a corner pillar sloping on three sides under a pent roof . The facade is disturbed in its original state by installing a shop. At the back there is a barrel-vaulted room.
A wood-paneled room from the late 15th century on the first floor, described by Michael Petzet as “remarkable” , was sold in 1927.
Today (as of 2014) the building is used for catering purposes.
