Gaston Briese
Gaston Briese (born August 19, 1898 in Berlin ; † March 22, 1953 ibid) was a German actor , senior director and theater director .
Life
Briese attended a university and began to play in his native Berlin theater shortly after the end of the First World War. In the German capital he was seen in the following two decades at the Walhalla Theater , the Central Theater , where he also worked as director and senior stage manager, the New Theater am Zoo (also directorate) and at the theater in Behrenstrasse , his last Fixed engagement before the outbreak of the Second World War. During the war, he was no longer given a permanent engagement; Briese started his post-war activity as senior director of the operetta at the Thalia Theater in Berlin-Tempelhof .
In 1926 Briese started working as a film actor, but mostly had to be content with small roles in productions of minor importance. The corpulent artist, who is said to have been quite popular due to his jovial nature, was subscribed to noble batches of all kinds - regularly cozy and simple types. He played cooks, chauffeurs, officials (ministers and policemen), brewers, butchers, porters and innkeepers.
In 1946, Briese gave his farewell performance in front of the camera in one of the first post-war films , Irgendwo in Berlin . Two years later he found another job in film as one of two production managers for the homecoming drama and debris film Beate . Gaston Briese died in Berlin-Charlottenburg as a result of a heart attack.
