Then Curbelo went to the club Huracán Buceo in the capital Montevideo . In 1999 he was appointed to the professional team. In the following season he completed a total of six games.

In 2000 he was originally loaned to AS Nancy for two years . It was only in the last match days of his second season that he fought for a regular place in the team, so AS Nancy made a purchase option and signed Curbelo.

2005 Gaston Curbelo rose with the AS in the first division. Although he was out for almost six months in the 2005/06 season due to an ankle injury, he fought his way back. In 2006 he became a league cup winner with the club .

At AS Nancy, Gaston Curbelo had a contract that ran until 2010 and was not renewed. Curbelo has therefore been without a club since the beginning of the 2010/11 season.
